Careousel® Pill dispensers
Careousel Automatic Pill dispensers are widely used throughout the
UK, Scandinavia, the USA, the Middle East and New Zealand, by both
Social and Health care as a component of a care package for vulnerable
patients who have difficulty managing their medication.
Careousel dispensers can be either stand alone or Telecare enabled. They
have been shown to have a dramatic impact upon medication compliance
and safety for vulnerable adults, reducing medication prompting visits,
paramedic call-outs, A & E visits and hospital admissions.
Although the devices are aimed at people with poor memory such as those
with Alzheimer’s and dementia, it also benefits patients with
Parkinson’s, mental health issues, learning difficulties, patients with
long term conditions with a daily pill regime, and the visually

Careousel® Automatic Pill Dispensers have obtained formal registration as Medical Devices.
The English manufacturer of Careousel® dispensers (developed and
produced in Sweden) has obtained registration from the Swedish National
Authority responsible for regulation and surveillance of the
development, manufacturing and marketing of drugs and other medicinal
products. The registration is valid throughout the EU.

Careousel® Automatic Pill Dispensers are lead free and compliant with

Excellent Swedish Design
In 1997 the Careousel® dispenser was awarded the prize for “Utmarkt
Svensk Form 1997”. In the same year the inventors and designer received
Sweden’s most prestigious “Construction and Design” (2nd prize)
presented by the King of Sweden.
Ingemar Hägerbro, Mats Eriksson and Gustav Wikman developed a pill
dispenser, which by its function and design is superior to those earlier
presented. Large numbers of people, particularly the elderly will be
able to manage their medication themselves by using this device.
